A waterfront regeneration scheme, the Aldcliffe flats needed to respect the local context of the site while providing an exciting and contemporary space for people to live in. This was achieved through spatial zoning, adoption of the stone wall visual context and lightening up with a vertical tiered rhythmic play of glazed baluster facade.
This project maximised the design height through the inclusion of two penthouse flats. The visual traditional blend yet contemporary flare can easily be appreciated from the exterior and experienced through the interior. Timothy (Director AA Architecture) under Hattrell & Partners was part of the team on this project in 2006.
